The end of the Greek empire was when one of Greece’s best emperors, Alexander died and left the lands in disarray. Three of alexander’s closest people each ruled a section of the land. Each of the people’s descendants lead their sections to fight the other two for the total control of the land. Over time the people that lived in Greece spread out over all of the sections and kept their customs alive and well for many years even when they weren’t living in Greece anymore. Eventually the strong roman power took over Greece’s land in their extent for power.

The Roman Empire was mighty but at one point a mix of bad rulers and too much land to rule lead to the collapse of Rome. The decline started with Commodus, who was a bad ruler and bribed the army, didn’t pay attention to the senate and sometimes competed in the coliseum. After Commodus’s death the rulers were mostly tyrants and stole money. Also as I explained earlier Rome had a mercenary army and they would change sides if it helped them. The army was already weak but then they had to run all over the empire to stop the people invading in different parts. An emperor named Diocletian tried to stop it from ending by splitting the empire in two parts. Then the last ruler of the Roman Empire is along and took back control of the whole land. Then Constantine (the last emperor) moved the capital of Rome away from Rome to Constantinople. This city would be around for many years. Many tribes of people would attack Rome over the next few years and eventually it fell and the Roman Empire was dead.

Compare and Contrast
The two empires both fell divided with one city staying alive. Both of the lands started their decline with the death of a good emperor. The cities ended up being chipped at by its attackers with Greeks being taken over by Rome and Rome being small Germanic tribes. The Greeks lasted divided for a long time but the Romans took a few years before they fell.
