Greek Geography
The geography of Greece was very important to the way it developed. The country was separated into over 1,400 islands. Some were land islands because of mountains or real water islands. The islands prevented the cities that made up greece from interacting and each city ran in a different way and had their own cultures. This created many wars because of cities lived close together and each thought highly of themselves This wasn't the only thing the mountains the affected, they also made the land rocky and bad for farming. This forced most greeks to become sailors or traders. This led to the city-states of greece to have a great navy because in order to sail you need ships and traders need transport to get to other lands. |
